Each mosaic begins with a subject. Selected private, institutional, cultural and collaborative commissions are considered throughout the year.

A commission is a proposal, not an order. Applications are read personally, and the studio takes on a small number of works at a time — a single portrait is weeks of sorting, turning and placing before anything is visible.
Some subjects belong in cubes and some do not. The second question in the application asks why this portrait should exist, and it is the one that matters most.
